The film Madagascar 2 Essay The film Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa is an excellent film filled with beautiful animation and great humor. The theme of the movies is more on friendship and how the characters manage to deal with one another despite the troubles along their way and the differences of their personalities. The film is highly recommended for viewers of all ages. It also depicts simple lessons in life but has great impact in everyday lives. The production of the film is really splendid. The way characters dances and jokes around gives viewer the chance to laugh their hearts out. It teaches viewers how to be grateful for simple things. The colors used in the film are really enticing especially for the young viewers. Adults also enjoy the movie because of the script and the added humor. The film centers on the four main characters struggle to go back to the New York Zoo from Madagascar but they accidentally landed on their homeland Africa. Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman find their own pieces of memory right on the very island which they have landed. They were able to see their families and had adventures of their own. It also shows how New Yorker animals survived the African jungle. Madagascar 2 is really a family film. It shows how to find one’s sense of individuality and how to battle against the problems that life is giving you. The music embedded on the film makes viewers more stuck into their seats as they see characters dancing and singing on screen. What Would Jesus Do?   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Between 1951 and 1991, forty-one Catholic priests in Chicago alone were charged with sexual misconduct (Philip Jenkins). This number has only increased over the past ten years, with the recent valiancy among Catholic women and children to come forth about sexual indecencies committed against them. But while the charges against the priests may be relatively new, the corruption within the clergy is certainly not. Priests’ abuse of their position can be traced back to the origin of the church itself through both stories and historical documents. In The Canterbury Tales, Geoffrey Chaucer exposes immorality in the church (both sexually and otherwise) through his introduction of various fictional characters. Together, these characters demonstrate the ways in which the church has fallen away from its original purpose and design—to make disciples of God through church members’ imitation of Jesus’ character.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In efforts to inspire Christians to act righteously, as well as instill a sense of religious pride among young people, Christians have cleverly coined the phrase, â€Å"What Would Jesus Do† or simply, â€Å"WWJD.† Although the expression may be overused and somewhat childish, in the meaning behind the phrase lies the entire mission statement of Christian dome. The apostle Peter describes it by saying, â€Å"To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps,† (1 Peter 2:21). The message is simple; try to live as Christ lived. Of all people, most would expect the leaders of the church to strive the hardest for this level of Godliness. Quite ironically, however, Chaucer points out that the clergy possesses qualities opposite to those of Jesus—namely impurity, selfishness, and greed.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The dictionary defines the word ‘pure’ as being free of dirt, defilement, or pollution, and most Christians would agree that when the term is used in the bible, it means just that: being free of the dirt, scum, corruption, and sin in the world. According to Paul, the grace of God and the teachings of Jesus â€Å"teach us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives,† (Titus 2:12). In The Canterbury Tales, Chaucer shows that the clergy is doing anything but seeking after purity. The Friar is the best example of this defilement of Christianity with his fulfillment of worldly pleasures in the areas of women and alcohol. Because of the attachment humans have to sex and their sexual partners, the Catholic Church is structured so that the leaders of the church remain celibate their entire lives.

Lady Macbeth – Human Weakness

Lady Macbeth in William Shakespeare’s play ‘Macbeth’ is a character who suffers greatly in because of her human weakness, which is her vaulting ambition. This ambition is not for her, but for her husband. This woman, who seemed so in control at the beginning of the okay, only cared for her husband and his success, later becomes so consumed with guilt and remorse that it results in her tragic death. Through the discussion of characterisation and lkey scenes, I shall reveal that Lady Macbeth’s human flaw is   not only a major contributor to the ruthlessness of her husband but creates a huge influence in how the play unfolds.The effect of Lady Macbeth’s ambition and compassion towards her devoted husband is immediately shown in the first scene of which she appears. When she receives a letter from Macbeth informing her on his meeting with the three witches, who they promise him that he will be king. This is, in Lady Macbeth’s eyes, his rightful position and by her first words, ‘Glamis art thou cawdor/ and shalt be what thou art promised’ makes us instantly recognise that she will stop at nothing to make sure that he gets what she feels Macbeth deserves.So when Lady Macbeth’s disturbing soliloquy about her becoming un-womanly to make sure her plan to kill Duncan will not fail, is not all of a surprise. She calls upon the spirits of evil in her quest to become completely absent of feeling and emotion. ‘Come you spirits, which tend on mortal thoughts/ unsex me here and fill me from the crown to toe/ top-full of direst cruelty’. She wishes for all her innate womanly qualities to disappear and replace it with evil ‘Come to my woman’s breasts and take my milk for gall’.She calls upon the evil spirits to prevent her in failing her mission to make her husband king. ‘no computions visiting of nature/ shall shake my fell purpose’. She asks for ‘Come thick night, and pall thee to the dunnest smoke of hell’ to hide her malicious thoughts and plans from everyone. As well as wishing for herself to become overwhelmed with ambition and callousness, she wants her husband to do the same. As in the same soliloquy she states her concerns for Macbeth that his soul is ‘too full of the milk of human kindness/ to catch the nearest way’.This means that she thinks that Macbeth’s natural kindness is a bad thing and that he would be unable to murder Duncan, the quickest way to become king. However, when Macbeth returns home from fighting he is greeted with the plan to kill Duncan. At first he refuses to co-operate but his wife manipulates him to change his mind. She throws at him insults, such as ‘once you durst do it, then you were a man’ and to call a man who just fought bravely for his king a coward in a mighty insult. She also throws at him ‘From this time such I account thy love’.At the end, in order to make sure Macbeth does commit the unnatural deed she tells him a disturbing image of her with her newborn child ‘And dash'd the brains out, had I so sworn as you’. Even so, if Lady Macbeth was a heartless, truly selfishly ambitious and a ruthless character then she would not have to call upon spirits to help become evil and take all her womanly qualities. Thus implying that she has womanly qualities that she wants rid of. And Shakespear makes us weary of this by allowing her to speak her thoughts and agony’s but only when Macbeth is not around.When Macbeth commits the murder, in Act 2, he is truly distraught and cannot think correctly and brings back the blood laden daggers with him. So Lady Macbeth, again, takes control of the situation. Earlier in the scene Lady Macbeth, who we first thought would commit the murder could not as ‘had he not resembled my father as he slept/ I’d had done it’. This shows flaw in her ruthlessness and shows th at her calling of evil did not completely work. It also shows that her human weakness, has weakness’ in itself. However she collects herself and brings the daggers back to Duncan’s body. To do this must have taken super human strength.

The film I chose to write about is one that I only saw a few months ago, which is â€Å"Good Will Hunting†. I have heard lots of people and critics praise this movie over the years, and after watching it I see why. It’s a very gripping story about a college aged janitor who grew up in broken foster homes, but has a genius level intellect and is wicked smaht. The protagonist of the movie is Will Hunting, he is a classic underachiever. The juxtaposition of his intellectual prowess and life circumstances is what makes him such a compelling character. The whole story is about Will, without him there is no movie. His physical characteristics are that he is a young good looking male with a tough disposition. He shares a lot more in common with Will than Lambeau does and gets Will to open up to him. While Sean can be considered a confidant the main confidants in the story are: Will’s girlfriend Skylar and his best friend Chuckie. We learn a lot about Will when we see his reluctanc e in informing his girlfriend about his social status. The way he handles the bar situation in the beginning of the movie is also very telling of Will. He not only stands up for his best friend but is also able to eloquent yet acerbically defuse a tense situation. This film is character organized. The main character plays an especially large role as he is both the protagonist and antagonist. During the exposition we meet will a lost twenty something Bostonian who gets in trouble with the law. A professor becomes aware of Will’s intelligence and arranges an offer for him with a judge; of therapy and entry into a math program instead of jail time. The dramatic question is will Will ever overcome himself to find peace and happiness. One of the first complications of the plot is Will’s mockery of several therapists.
